Where Truecaller is stronger
- Calls. Caller ID, spam call identification, and blocking are what Truecaller is built for. NoScams doesn't handle calls at all.
- Number lookups. You can search any phone number, local or international, to see who it belongs to.
- Scale. Truecaller says it's trusted by over 500 million users, and its iPhone app has about 253,000 App Store ratings averaging 4.4 stars.
Where NoScams is different
- Built for texts. NoScams checks every text from an unknown sender and sends clear scams to Junk before you see them.
- Free checks, forever. Paste or share any text, email, link, or screenshot and get a verdict with reasons, no subscription needed.
- Much cheaper, with a lifetime option. $14.99 a year or $29.99 once, compared with $74.99 a year for Truecaller Premium.
- Nothing leaves your phone. NoScams doesn't collect data. Truecaller's privacy label lists data linked to you, including location and contact info, and data used to track you.
- Every verdict explained. You see why a text was flagged, not just that it was.
How text filtering works on iPhone
Every text filter app on iPhone only sees regular texts (SMS, MMS, and RCS) from senders you don't know. None of them can see iMessages or texts from your contacts. NoScams works inside those limits, and checks each text on your phone.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Truecaller if spam calls and unknown callers are your main problem.
- Choose NoScams if scam texts are what bother you and you want them filtered for a fraction of the price, with nothing leaving your phone.
- Use both if you get both. They don't overlap.
