NoScams vs Norton Genie for scam texts

Updated October 23, 2026

Norton Genie is a free app where you paste or screenshot a message to ask whether it's a scam. It doesn't filter texts automatically; Norton's automatic text filter (Safe SMS) comes with Norton's paid mobile security plans. NoScams does both in one app: free checks, plus automatic filtering for $1.99 a month or $29.99 once, with everything checked on your iPhone.

Where Norton is stronger

Where NoScams is different

Both work within Apple's limits

Norton notes that Safe SMS filters SMS and MMS messages and doesn't support iMessage. That's true of every text filter app on iPhone, NoScams included: Apple only gives filter apps regular texts from senders you don't know.
